The July calendar of events in Cape Cod heats up and concludes with the prestigious Woods Hole Film Festival. This month's events begin with a parade from the Cape Cod Museum of Art and Art Gallery to City Hall. The highlight of the event is the boot or boot treatment, where children receive treats from the various decorated floats that participate in the parade.

A visit to Cape Cod in late October means you can attend the various Halloween events in the region. Many towns and villages, including Hyannis, Harwich, Pocasset and Yarmouth, are running safe trick or treat programmes, despite concerns that children may be at risk from collecting sweets. Wellfleet Preservation celebrates the arts and community with a costume competition, live music, a petting zoo and more at Wellfleet Community Center.

The city is the county seat of Barnstable County, and many prominent Boston residents spend their summers in the city, especially in the summer months of July, August and September. It was also the home of Senator Ted Kennedy until his death and has been the home of the Kennedy family ever since. One of Boston's most famous families, the Kennedys, has been in administration since the late 1950s and has lived in their Wellfleet home for 50 years.

In addition, high school students will have the opportunity to attend Barnstable High School's annual summer camp for students from around the country for free. It is also home to the University of Massachusetts - the John Paul II School of Law in Boston, which opened in 2007, and it is home to the Boston College School for the Arts and Sciences.

The Cape Cod Central Railroad operates daily between Boston and Boston with regular weekend stops in Barnstable, Boston, and Worcester, Massachusetts.
